Pain for over 15 years
I'm not breaching confidentiality here, as I won't be mentioning any names. But you may find this interesting!!
I had a lady referred to me for treatment of sleep apnea and snoring. When I questioned her, she also suffers from severe migraines as well as other aches an pains. She has been diagnosed with 'fibromyalgia'. Here's the thing - she doesn't have fibromyalgia!!!
She originally complained of ankle, knee and hip pains (anything here sound familiar to what I've discussed before?!). After seeing numerous doctors she was told the only real option would be to BREAK HER PELVIS to reset it and she would not be able to walk for a year!!
Migraines, and many other chronic pain conditions can be related to body biomechanics. I know because my team and I have treated people with these symptoms before with complete success. She has not gone ahead with the surgery, good thing too! If we can get funding from the PCT for her we can get her out of pain and out of the hospital.
Here's the infuriating thing - I doubt the PCT will pay and she can't afford to have it done privately . If the PCT did pay full fees, they would save significantly more and get a better outcome for her, unfortunately it's like talking to a brick wall!! It's taken us 18 months to get approval for her anti snoring device and I hope we cvan get further funding to get her out of pain without another long wait
Rant over!

Re: Pain for over 15 years
PCTs are so annoying at times..
Did you see the update from The Public Accounts Committee to the question sent to them by the Migraine Trust - as to why their report on services for people with neurological conditions excluded migraine sufferers!!!!
Number one neurological disease in the UK and not even in the report

Re: Pain for over 15 years
Totally agree - when this all kicked off for me I was so lucky in that my GP was a migrainer and totally understood...
