"The premise of the study is that our current Standard American Diet (SAD) is artificially high in unsaturated fatty acids (omega-6s) found in seed oils. These polyunsaturated fatty acids — notably linoleic acid and its inflammatory product arachidonic acid — may promote physical pain by showing up in both immune and nervous system tissues. Arachidonic acid is the building block for active compounds that are involved in pain. When oxidized, linoleic acid itself also directly forms pain compounds."
"If you experience chronic pain, taking a look at the fats in your diet and swapping them out for foods and fats higher in omega-3s might be a great long-term strategy for you. Note that it took eight weeks on the diet to begin to notice differences in headache hours per day."

Re: Fats and Chronic Pain/Headaches
Thanks for posting, Laura. It's an interesting read.
Personally, I've been reducing my vegetable oil intake down as much as possible for a few years now, in favour of butter, ghee etc. Although, unless you make everything yourself, it's pretty impossible.

Sorry to only just respond to this!
In honesty, probably not, although my period pains aren't as severe as they once were (and it's difficult to say why, so it could be playing a role). I just have to hope that it is a good thing generally!
