Does Tesco stores give you migraine? - TESCO store list needed
Hi all
Following on from the trigger post, I contacted Tesco's and they have come back to me today. They would like to have a list of the stores which are casuing problems and they will look into it and will come back to me.
So can you please let me know which store(s) have caused you or anyone you know a problem?
Thanks
Tee

Chelmsford Princes Road is the one where my mum had a migraine triggered by the lighting.

Hello Tee,
isn't it great that Tesco are looking into this.
Tesco Inverness, Elgin and Forres are the ones that give my son migraines - son says it is the lighting that is especially bad.
Thanks Tee,
Maureen

Went to a 'normal' store today to test my theory about the tesco 'Extra' stores.
The normal tesco store set me off as well so you can add Tesco Trent Vale, Newcastle under Lyme to the list too.
I have to say the effect is quicker and harder hitting in the Extra stores..took a full 30mins in the smaller store for my brains to turn to mush.
Not scientific but interesting if they use different lighting in the bigger stores...could also be the higher ceilings giving the sound effects of a large swimming pool....that echoing vastness of noise sends me doolally.

Thanks for that Jane - I will let it to the growing list and let them know the difference between this one and the Extras. Could just be the sheer size.

Hi all
I have collected all the replies and this is the current list. I have sent it to Tesco and await a response. The majority of the stores do seem to be Extra stores, so it will be interesting to see if they use different light in this type of store.
Tesco, Dundrum, Co Dublin
Tesco, Dublin
Tesco Extra, Whistable, Kent
Tesco Extra, Broadstairs, Kent
Tesco, Ilfracombe, North Devon
Tesco Extra, Barnstaple (NB the Old Barnstaple one is not too bad)
Tesco Extra, Southport, Town Lane
Tesco Extra's Stoke-on-Trent
Tesco Extra, Shrewsbury
Tesco Inverness
Tesco Extra, Elgin
Tesco Forres
Tesco Extra, Mereway, Northampton
Tesco, Princes Road, Chelmsford
Tesco Trent Vale, Newcastle under Lyme (however this store takes 30mins to trigger)
Tesco Extra Baguley, South Manchester
Tesco Parrswood
and possible the Express in Buxton

Hi all
Just to give you an update on this - They are still working on it.
I had a call from them this week and they are looking at the technical spec of the lights to see there is anything special about them - ie wave length, wattage, low energy

Re: Does Tesco stores give you migraine? - TESCO store list needed
Ok here is the response so far......
All of the lighting within the area of concern is Colour 840 and all are fluorescent lamps.
The lights are not low energy in the same way that the normal household GLS lamp was replaced by the Compact Fluorescent low energy lamp but the T5 linear fluorescent lamps in Tesco are slightly lower than a standard lamp; about 8% lower energy consumption.
I am not sure if this is actually of any help?
