Breathing method promises to treat chronic diseases
MANILA, Philippines - A breathing method developed more than 50 years ago promises to treat chronic diseases, or those that last for more than three months.
Buteyko practitioner Jac Vidgen, who has been teaching the method in the Philippines for 17 years, claimed that it has helped thousands of Filipinos find immediate relief from asthma, allergies, sleep apnea, anxiety disorders, hay fever, coughing and stress.
Vidgen added that he has also managed individuals who have emphysema, migraine, hypertension, chronic bronchitis, digestive disorders, and immune or hormone function.
"A major factor in all these diseases is a dysfunctional breathing pattern known as chronic hyperventilation syndrome, and they cannot be reversed unless the chronic overbreathing is reversed," he said.
"Drugs, diets and supplements may temporarily suppress symptoms but they will ultimately fail as the underlying breathing issue is never addressed," he added.
So how does Buteyko work? The method strongly promotes nasal breathing or silent breathing through the nose, which is said to help balance the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the body.
