NEW TREATMENT _ IMPLANT MAY END MIGRAINE MISERY
Sufferers can have several attacks a day, each lasting 15 minutes to three hours

A TINY gadget that can relieve the pain of severe headaches and migraines could save up to £17billion a year in lost working days.
The device is surgically implanted into the gum in a nerve bundle behind the cheekbone.
Once switched on by a remote control it transmits electrical signals which can bring total relief from the pain within 15 minutes.
Headache specialist Professor Rigmor Jensen, who led the Danish research, said: “If this device continues to work, it would be wonderful.” One in seven Britons suffer migraines, one in six have recurring headaches and one in 1,000 have “cluster” headaches. These are known as “suicide headaches” because the intense stabbing pain in the area of one eye can be almost unbearable. Sufferers can have several attacks a day, each lasting 15 minutes to three hours.
This was the group used to trial the kit, called the Neurostimulation System. One patient said her headaches caused her marriage to collapse and led to her losing her job.
Now Christina Jensen, 35, says: “My headaches are gone completely. I feel nothing. It’s like being reborn. I would get around 10 attacks a day. The pain was so horrible I really thought I would end my life.”
