Botox treatment for chronic migraine
Hello everyone. Just joined so still finding my way around!
Have suffered with migraines for approx 35 years. About 4 years ago they became more frequent becoming a daily part of my life. Having tried every known drug over the years as well as alternative forms of medicine, I found, on the net, details of Dr Wetherby at Plymouth Hospital. He was pushing for Botox to be available on the NHS & I was lucky enough to take part in his clinical trials.
Twelve months on, and four sessions of Botox later, the migraines are becoming less frequent and less severe. I was told from the onset that it was not a cure. The hope being that I would get a break from the daily use of the drup I use, Zomig.
Has anyone else had better success with Botox? Or like me, did it take a while to take effect. Would luv to hear from other suffers.

Re: Botox treatment for chronic migraine
Hi and welcome to the forum.
I tried botox years ago, in the very early stages of it being used. It didn't help me, to be honest. The best person to speak to about her experiences of botox is probably Tee. Hopefully she'll see this, as she doesn't seem to be about much anymore.

Well its taken 12 months of treatment but it seems to be helping a lot now. Almost afraid to talk about it in case they start up again. But two in two weeks! That's a miracle for me.
Re: Botox treatment for chronic migraine
I just had my second set of Botox injections on 11/7. I'm hopeful, as I've tried most everything else. My doctor says it seems that for many, the effectiveness adds up with repeated injections. Patients are usually doing better at 9 months than at 6 months.
