The migraine battle - general interest story from Australia
Ruth Callaghan, The West Australian
November 24, 2011
Your head throbs, your eyes struggle to focus and sounds and bright light can cut like a knife - and that's just with an ordinary headache.
For almost 355,000 Australians thought to have chronic migraine, things are much worse.
For them, headache pain comes in the form of frequent, painful migraines that severely limit their ability to do ordinary activities, like work or socialise.
It is estimated that about one in 10 Australians has experienced migraines, about two million people, with a smaller group of these experiencing chronic migraine.
People in this group experience headaches at least 15 days a month, including more than eight days of migraines each month.
