Oh big hugs hun
Sorry this one is not settling on you, I cannot remember how long Eplim took to kick in with me (not that it did a great deal anyway) a chat to the nero is a good idea.
btw The good thing with Eplim is if you come off it it is out your system in a matter of days.
Hope you feel a little better today

Re: General discussion - Epilim, Topamax, Neurontin
In the US Epilim is known as Depakote. I've known 2 others who have taken it and have put on much weight. Depakote is one of the few drugs I've refused to take for that reason.
Topomax: My neurologist upped the dose until I could not think clearly or focus on a task. It did not prevent migraine attacks so we weaned me off of it.
Neurontin: I've taken both Neurontin and another similar drug called Lyrica (pregabalin) for years to control the pain from a peripheral neuropathy. Neither have caused much in the way of side effects. I've been on the Lyrica most recently. However I recently stopped it because I was trying to reduce my medical expenses. I decided I could do without the Lyrica and just deal with the pain - if I'm not on my feet a lot its not too bothersome. However I've been getting migraine attacks more frequently over the last month. The doc thinks the Lyrica may have worked somewhat as a preventative, so I'm going back on it.

Re: General discussion - Epilim, Topamax, Neurontin
Over the last 3 years or so, I've tried Nortriptyline, Tramadol, Pizotifen, Topiramate, Pregabalin and Epilim. None of them worked. I was on the Pregabalin for the longest and it didn't help my migraines at all. The others gave me horrendous side effects which left me more or less zombie-like.
I've just been to see a new specialist and he's sent me a prescription for Gabapentin! At the end of the consultation, I went home feeling he had listened to me and understood the difficulties I have. He asked if any medications had helped and I said they hadn't, listing some of the worst. Now I feel he hasn't listened at all and hasn't read my notes.
If I don't take the Gabapentin, I'll be accused of not trying and not wanting to get better. If I do take it, it'll either not work or the side effects will be horrible. I don't know when I will next see this specialist - could be weeks or months.
As always, I raised my hopes only to have them dashed again
