New Center to Help Treat Acute Migraine Pain - Rochester New York

Rochester, N.Y.— For the past twenty years, 53-year-old Kathy Seifert has suffered from debilitating migraine headaches. The headaches were so bad she had to quit her job.
“I had pain traveling down my arms, my neck and into my hands,” Seifert says. “I could hardly get out of bed in the morning.”
Seifert often found herself waiting at the emergency room when the headaches got severe. Sometimes she waited more than seven hours to be treated and sometimes the wait made the migraine worse.
The bright lights and the noise exacerbated her symptoms. When she was tended to, the treatment was good but nurses were too busy to pay a lot of attention to her.
“Sometimes in the busyness, they don’t have the time and availability of the people to look after people as well.”
That’s why when her neurologist recommended Seifert to try out a new treatment clinic she jumped at the chance.
The Acute Migraine Treatment Center opened its doors at the Lifetime Urgent Care Center on Carter Street. They’ve been open for two weeks and have seen a steady flow of migraine patients.
