Brain Cysts
when I had my MRI they found a small 7x9x11mm cyst on my brain that originally they thought was the cause of all my problems, but as its not grown in 2years it seems unlikely, which is good news, as its in operable!!!
When I was in the ward a UCLH 3 of us with chronic migraines had shown cysts on our scans I wonder if this is the case with anyone else on the forum?

Re: Brain Cysts
Hi Sheena
DOn't know a huge amount about these except that my Mum has one. Her's is benign and she was scanned every 2 years but she has had an increase in headaches recently so they brought the scan forward to check whether it's changed.
The neuro she saw did all the standards tests on her before the MRI and doesn't expect there to be any problems. He also gave her some amitriptyline and she is seeing a reduction in the severity etc now. As she has had migs before I am concerned that this isn't her cyst but the fact that at the age of 71 she maybe becoming chronic.
They discovered the cyst (back left hand side) after she experienced weird dizzy spells and headaches..her symptoms when they occur are very similar to mine. SHe's also always been sensitive to noise and flickering lights like I am.

Re: Brain Cysts
I am also being checked every 2 years now as at only mm in size growth would be small and hard to detect, hope your mum is ok and all is well with her bless x
Mine is on the third ventricle on the left and although tiny looks huge on the scan!!

I am sure she will be, she lookks 10years younger than she is and is very fit and well generally. I am sure if it was anything to worry about she would have been called in pronto.
I think the stress of being my mother is peobably the biggest cause of her headaches.
