Signature Technology Improves Sleep in 100% of Study Participants

Charlotte's The Hemispheres Center's signature Brainwave Optimization technology announced results of new double-blind study with a 100% participant success rate

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 9, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The double-blind study, conducted at the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital Research Center, applied Brain State Technologies® Brainwave Optimization techniques to several groups of participants. After the initial study, Lee Gerdes, the founder of Brain State, requested that researchers run the experiment again on the placebo group, to ensure that all the study participants were able to experience the benefits of the sleep-improving technology. The success rate for this group was also 100%.

Brainwave Optimization is a non-invasive technology that helps the brain achieve balance in neural oscillations. Sensors affixed to the scalp and connected to a computer detect the brainwaves of various brain lobes, the frequencies of which are played back to the client via earbuds. Measuring these changes and evaluating their effects can noticeably improve clients' stress levels. Previous research has shown that the approach achieves positive results with migraine headaches and insomnia, PTSD, and more.

Dr. Tegeler is presenting his results at a major international sleep conference later this year; also, Wake Forest University has approved a grant of $615,000 towards the continued study of Brainwave Optimization, which will explore further applications for this technology, including treatment for Mild Cognitive Impairment (early dementia) and other afflictions.
