While doing some reserach I came across a couple of videos - I would like to share...

This one explains how the brain works - its a lovely simple video...

This is a great one to explain the nerves system

One of the things I am looking at is the Pineal gland - I have heard that this maybe a link to this gland and migraine,,,,,,,,,,,, I am not so sure yet........... but one of the things I have found out is that it is the first gland to grow when you are in the womb at around 7 weeks........... it controls so much - your feelings, flight or fight, food, thirst etc........ There is a theory that damage to this gland is what causes the trigger problems we have...

SO I was wondering - could Migraine start even before we are born? Could a 'stress' that a mother is going through whilst pregnant effect the growth of this gland.......... it only a thought - but I spoke to my mum about the time when she was pregnant with me and there was more than 'stress' at this period of time.. and I wondered it anyone else could quantify this too?

Well, this is certainly an interesting theory. My mom had 9 miscarriages, and the 2 live births she had were difficult pregnancies. Both my brother and I have migraines, although mine are much worse and started at a much younger age. It is certainly worth researching, I think! One thing I have recently started wondering about is if there is any connection between my mom's miscarriage, my brother's and my health problems, and the fact that my dad was exposed to Agent Orange during his stint in Vietnam. He didn't have major exposure, but I have read that even minor exposure has been unofficially linked to health problems in the offspring and grandoffspring of Vietnam vets.
But in all my MRIs, there has never been any indication that my pineal gland is unusual. It is tiny, though, and I guess that any small abnormalities could easily go unnoticed. Interesting that melatonin is related to the pineal gland. I wonder if that has any correlation with my life-long insomnia? Hmm....
Great question, Tee!!

How interesting!

I don't think there was anything of any great consequence going on when my mum was pregnant with me, other than dealing with another baby (my sister being 18 months older than me!)

My mum had severe pre-eclampsia with both me and my sister and had to be hospitalised and on bed rest for weeks before we were both born each a month premature.

However, in my case, it's basically my mother's family's legacy. She had migraines as did her mother and at least one of her sisters. My sister also has migraine, and though they're not as severe as mine, they have been pretty bad, with transient aphasia on more than one episode.

Yes, it's definitely inherited in my case too. My mum suffers (although never so badly as I have), as did her mum etc.

hmmm interesting - I will do more reserach when I can think straight - off to have Botox again tomorrow - ouch.

The thing I am wondering is if this gland is the trigger tipping control............. like we all have cancer cells - but something triggers it to grow............ could we all have inherited genetic migraines - but this gland trigger them?????

My mum has migraines - but no where near the level I do and all my siblings (4 in total) are mig free............
