Like Button?
How about a "like" or "agreed" button - a way to acknowledge someone's comment even if you don't really have anything additional to add. Or not. Maybe it would get overused. Just a thought. :)
Re: Like Button?
Hmmmm ok still working on it - as a sort of solution, I have managed to activate a + and - reputation system. On each post you will find a little + and - on the right hand side - if you agree with the post you can hit the + and if you disagree you hit the -.
This will give the poster a reputation point, so you can see how much their point of view is liked by others - this info is displayed under your avatar.
Hope this helps.

Re: Like Button?
I'm a bit slow, but I've only just noticed this (although I can't see any plus or minus signs).
I'm going to regret saying this I know, but I'm pretty glum about the fact that somewhere along the line I've received a 'negative' rating, given that I have written virtually every post on this forum with a migraine. I absolutely don't expect people to agree with everything I say, and I know I can be outspoken sometimes, but I'd much rather someone actually say 'I disagree' than start grading my posts, as it just makes me not want to post!
It doesn't really seem in keeping with the supportive nature of the forum to me (and seems a bit more like the comments section on the Daily Mail online!), but perhaps I'm a bit behind, given that I can't even see any pluses or minuses on my screen.
Like I say, I'm going to regret posting this!

Re: Like Button?
Sarah,
I agree with you. I wonder if someone (also suffering a migraine) accidentally hit the minus button instead of the plus?
I just "plussed" you here, but it doesn't give me the option to remove the "plus" and I can't vote again as negative to counteract the "plus"... so it is possible that someone hit a negative and didn't notice.
Since I went and double-checked my stats, I can safely promise that it wasn't me that negative-voted you! But please don't stop posting!! I prefer to read true comments than ones that are nice just because someone is afraid that they will be down voted.
Just my two cents!
Carla

Re: Like Button?
Ooh I can see the plus and minus now! I couldn't see it on Firefox but can on Chrome.
Thanks. I didn't mean to make my last post all about me and being over-sensitive etc (although I am! ), but I just feel it isn't very in line with a supportive forum to allow negative votes, y'know?

Re: Like Button?
LOL you silly goose - its been there for ages.......... It was intended to give people a way to like a post but not comment....... I too have a negative and when I looked into it - it was a response to a bad day I was having......... ie the person did not like the bad day....... and was not a reflection of a comment I made - I am guessing this is the same with you as your posts are always supportive and intelligent (you know even with a migraine your one smart cookie) xx - I have emailed the software people to see if there is a way we can add a like button instead of this.......... but I would not worry about it too much - its just a number
Re: Like Button?
I may have found a solution - just waiting for the tech guys to get back to me - but there may be a way to have a + and not a - which is really what we need............ a way that you can say 'yep I agree with that' - when they do not have the energy to post a comment.....
Re: Like Button?
I managed to change the reputation wording to Like - is that OK - or can you think of another word?
Re: Like Button?
Cheers guv!
Sounds ideal. I definitely think it's nice to be able to say you 'like' a comment or post without having to go to the energy of typing a reply.

Re: Like Button?
SORTED - we now have a + button only - so you can agree with a post without having to have the energy to comment........... and if you disagree then you really need to post why - because that's how we all learn
