With the sun shining down on Centre Court, it should have been a perfect afternoon at Wimbledon. But one man who would have preferred a grey sky was Steve Druce.

‘Even though I was wearing sunglasses, the glare from the sun was so bright that it triggered a migraine after an hour or so.

'It was like a strobe flashing in front of me constantly,’ explains Steve, 61, a sales manager from Croxley Green, Hertfordshire.

It's not known why Johnny Depp wears coloured lenses but they effectively damp down the effects of lights or patterns that trigger visual migraine
He and his wife Karen soon had to abandon the tennis and head home so Steve could lie in a darkened room.

One in seven people in the UK suffers from migraine with common triggers including dehydration, stress and lack of sleep.

Steve is one of many thousands of Britons whose migraine is triggered by bright light.
While light sensitivity, or photophobia, is a well-known symptom of migraine, many people don’t realise that it can cause it, too — in fact, research has found that 40 per cent of migraine sufferers believe visual triggers are partly to blame.
