squeezing! Empty squeezing!

Post by onandoffagain Tue May 29, 2012 8:30 am

Hi, strange request, I am looking for something that can squeeze my head! (I know, bit odd) sometimes when my head pain is really bad the only thing I want to do is squeeze my head, at the moment I put it under a sofa cushion. (now I really do sound odd) Oh well, that's chronic migraine for you! Any ideas anyone? alien

No it's not silly, I sometimes feel the same. I put my head between 2 pillows, resting an arm on the upper one. I think it has 3 several effects:
  • The gentle pressure helps in some way although I don't really understand why
  • It;s dark
  • For a short while the coolness of the pillows is soothing.

I find I am frequently swapping sides of the pillows to retain the coolness as I think the coolness is the most beneficial part of the exercise.

I now use some silicon gel pads that I keep in the fridge for such occasions. I can lie down with a pad under one side of my head, place another on the upper side of my head and place a buck wheat pillow on top. It provides just the right amount of coolness and weight.

The pads keep cool for a long time. They are designed to be frozen and placed with food to keep it cold on picnics, trips etc. I don't freeze them as they become too rigid and the cold is too intense.

I know what you mean. I find I want to wear something like a woolly hat, but without the warmth.

have you heard of the migra cap, it costs about £30 and fitts over the head like Sarah mentioned like a hat but with cooling gel effects and eye guards to darken off

also there is the chillow pillow for cooling

but i think the migra cap is more what you're talking about here

Glad to see it is not just me!! I have either two pillows on top or my head aptly sandwiched in between - thus named the pillow sandwich Smile

I too swap sides to retain coolness but find cooling packs (even if only from the fridge) too intense.

Last night as I was wide awake in my pillow sandwich I was wondering whether someone invited like a snorkel like thing to have fresh cold air supply - that would be truly awesome. I have tried some different contraptions - none successful...

Sending lots of headsoothing to everybody!
