An estimated 20 percent of adult headache sufferers say they started before age 10.

Dr. A. David Rothner is a pediatric neurologist at Cleveland Clinic.

He says there are two early warning signs when it comes to kids and the development of migraines.
"There are two disorders that are thought to be related to migraine. One is colic and one is car-sickness. So, if a kid gets car sickness. Some people feel that that's a harbinger of migraine to come," he says.

Interesting about car sickness. I don't suffer from any motion sickness, and never did as a child. On the other hand, all of my siblings suffered from car sickness as children. And the worst sufferer has never had a migraine in his life!

Even the inter island crossing between North and South Islands in very heavy seas dosn't upset me. In fact I find it exhilarating! I recall one trip where the sea was so violent that some vehicles on the lower decks broke their restraints and were badly damaged. Every passenger except myself was packed into the stern lounges where the movement of the ship was least. I had the entire forward lounges and cafeteria to myself. Best of all I would stand on the promenade breathing in the sea laden air and watching the bow of the ship alternating between pointing at the stars and diving into the sea swells. And I am ashamed to admit it, but I rather enjoyed the fact that I felt marvellous while everyone else was miserable.
