Monster attack followed with a script for Demerol (meperidine) as a rescue med
Today I had a monster attack. I left my office to go to the headache doc and forgot to grab some food from my office stash. Then, I was on the elevator in my headache doc's building and a woman wearing perfume got on. Missing meals and perfume are both major triggers. As I sat in the waiting room my body cascaded into a major attack. I was more agitated and fidgety than usual. The doc gave me injections of DHE, Torodol (Keterolac), and Decadron (Dexamethasone). He kept me for 45 minutes to an hour to see if it helped. It did not. None of these 3 drugs was new to me - though the combination was. I have tried a large number of other rescue and preventative drugs already with very little success. The doc has now prescribed Meperidine (Demerol) as a rescue med. I'm to take it at the start of an attack and then once more 4 hours later if the migraine isn't gone. Does anyone else have any knowledge of or experience with meperidine as a rescue med? It is a controlled substance. I'm not against trying a potentially addictive drug if I use it carefully and if it is helpful. But I do want want to be well informed.

So sorry to read yo have had a big one - but you were in the right place:)
I have not used meperidine but do know its from morphine family so would be used to help with the pain - would be interested to see if it helps with the other symptoms - do let us know how you get on?
This might help:
