A SOUTH Yorkshire library is holding an event to raise awareness of headaches during Migraine Awareness Week.

Barnsley Central Library is holding free blood pressure checks on Monday, September 5, from 10am until 1pm on a drop-in basis.

Migraine Awareness Week runs from Monday, September 4 to Saturday, September 10.

The library is also offering free Indian head massages on Wednesday, September 7, at 10am and 3pm.

Coun Jenny Platts, Barnsley Council’s cabinet spokeswoman for adults and communities, said: “Barnsley’s library service is pleased to be playing its part in helping to raise awareness of a serious and debilitating condition.

“I hope that migraine sufferers will take this opportunity to visit.”
