I have only been on this since oct 2010. 5mg to start and now 10mg since march and it does seem to be working but again its the tiredness, if I sit down in the day I fall asleep, but rather that than the constant 8/9 pain all the time. You said you were sorry to see it go! i have read it has a "life" span how long can you be on it?

Hi

I was on the same dose for just over 2 years - and so far - its the only drug which has helped reduce things.

The only reason I gave it up was the tiredness, I had no life lol I was not in bed in pain but I was still in bed all day lol

As Dr S said - the fact that it works is a very good sign - because it means your Migs are treatable, its just a case of finding the right treatment - I am still looking lol

I have in the back of mind to go back to it - if all else fails - because like you say - better the tiredness than the pain

Hi Sheena,

I have been taking Flunarazine for virtually 6 years now (please see the thread titled: Calcium Channel Blockers - Flunarizine, Verapamil).

I have not heard about it having a "life span" although due to the side-effects I experience I know that I won't be able to take it forever.

The tiredness for me hasn't been too bad for me. I tried playing around with the time I took it in the evening, instead of taking it before going to bed. I would adjust the time by 30 minutes every few days and the best time for me was 17.00. By taking it at this time of evening I was able to stay awake long enough into the evening without feeling overly tired and I was able to get up early in the morning. I think it is a matter of trial and error to find what suits you best.

I hope you're able to manage your tiredness especially as you are seeing benefit from taking it.

I'm going to start it very soon! I'm really hoping that it goes smoothly for me. Dosulepin made me sleepy so I took it quite early in the evening so I could still get up in the morning. I'll take that tip, Michala.
