Hi my 1st post

Hi I have hemapligic and basilar migraine with aura. My aura is 5/6 days a week with stroke like symptons on right side and partial sight in right eye. I had never even had headaches until my initial "stroke" in oct 2008.
At first they thought it was all caused by a small cyst they found on my brain but as that never grew and my headaches got worse they put it down to me lying and sent me home untreated in the end. I spent 6 months in the dark with no tv and no sound. In the end I put my scans on the internet and sent them to all the neurological hospitals in England and Europe and UCLH in London emailed me back within 2 hours and said they would help me.
It took 18 weeks to get in but within 2 days they found out what was wrong with me and I began to get help and pain relief. I now know how to get help when no one will believe you and know you should always stand up for yourself as there are people out there who will help.

And well done you for fighting - its damn hard to fight when your in such pain and your story is an inspiration and will help others I am sure.

From talking to people I have found so many which are fobbed off by doctors who just do not know what to do - I even had one neuro tell me it was all in my head and I should pull myself together

I also have hemiplegic migraine and have visual and weakness aura - all the time - its just a matter of severity - what medication are you on?
