A mother-of-two whose headaches were dismissed as migraines by doctors was diagnosed with a brain tumour after visiting her optician.
Gill Lehrle, 35, had suffered with a pounding head for months but was told not to worry by her GP.
But when the mother-of-two went to an optician for a routine check, she was immediately sent to see a specialist, who told her she had a tumour the size of snooker ball behind her eye.

That is awful, and goes to show that a system should be set up so that anyone who has strong reasons that the doctors consultation is wrong, should be able to access help to get a scan asap, and hopefully a diagnosis can be sought straight away if possible.

It does highlight the lack of understanding that many GPs have. I know they are busy people, but........

I am lucky I can honestly say that at the first sign that my pupils looked odd my GP was on the phone to a neurologist while I sat in front of him. He explained it could be really serious and his lovely medical student, who was present, even offered to drive me straight to the neuro dept himself.
3 hours later I had been CT scanned, on the ward and awaiting an MRI.
I LOVE my GP surgery..both of them there are wonderfully supportive.

my Cyst sits right behind my optic nerve and my opthomologist says thats whats causing the partial blindness in my right eye and Drs S says its the aura SO I am at a loss Its no go of its the cyst so I will go with the migraine theory for now. I will try to upload the scan photo when I feel better but not sure how too. Cant even get a photo of me on here ! lol

hmmm does sound like a catch 22 for you - I hope Dr S is right and that one day you will find a drug that helps.
How are you feeling today - any better?

PS You can add a photo of yourself on the profile page, then avatar tab. - Give me a shout if you need help.
Also you can add the scan in a message using the little computer icon in the message header - but I have not done it yet so not sure how easy it is
