Update on me - thyroid

I haven't updated on here lately, but I've had a bit of a development which may or may not help my migraines.

Basically, I've probably mentioned on other threads on here that I have had symptoms of being hypothyroid for many years now.  I had my first blood test for it that came back 'normal' 14 years ago, and many other tests over the years, as doctors agree that I have the symptoms, which have obviously worsened over time.  

I won't bore you with all the details!  Anyway, last year I had a private test done which showed me to be just outside of the normal range.  I took it to my GP who immediately did another blood test, which came up 'normal'.  So he pretty much told me to get lost and disregarded the private test.

I have got a bit of money together and a few weeks ago I went to see a private doctor that was on the Thyroid UK list of private doctors.  He diagnosed me as being long term hypothyroid and I have started on levothyroxine, gradually increasing it. I've been finding out as much as I can about it all (all very complex).

It's obviously very early days, but I really hope life becomes a bit more exciting soon - I have the energy of a sleepy snail, and obviously the migraines are a nightmare too.

If a test comes up as marginally in the "normal" range, then there's every chance that it might be outside the "normal" range for an individual. Why does the medical profession treat everyone as having exactly the same "normal" ranges. It seems glaringly obvious to me that individual tolerances will often be outside the statistical "normal" ranges.

My alpha brain wave pattern is well outside the "normal" range, yet I don't present with any of the symptoms the medical profession say I should have with those readings. Those "dangerous" readings are obviously my normal ones. I wonder what condition I'd be in if I changed to present a more "normal" reading?
