Clonazepam

Post by pīwakawaka on Tue Jul 09, 2013 7:32 pm

Has anyone been prescribed Clonazepam for migraines? They are trying it out on me. Some good in that for the first 2 weeks of taking 0.5 mg daily, I had no headaches, but most of the other symptoms I get with migraines still occurred, but perhaps less frequently. I also experienced what I would call hallucinatory side effects that were quite frightening although each experience would only last a very short while. Also I seemed to be constantly confused, like going to the fridge to get a plate. Also I seemed to constantly have double vision. Spent most of the time going around with one eye shut so I could see clearly.

so the dose was reduced to to 0.25 mg, which I have been on for the last 3 weeks. No change in the hallucinations, Migraine with headaches are back but maybe slightly less severe and frequent than before starting on Clonazepam. Still find it very easy to get confused.

I had a quite a severe migraine when I saw the specialist again today. It's been decided to up the dose to 0.5 mg again for a week or two. I'm not convinced that it's doing me much good, but I'll try for a while longer. The constant state of confusion is quite bothersome. Sometimes these meds take a while to reach a happy equilibrium.

I've not heard of that one, to be honest. It's so frustrating when the side effects seem to outweigh the benefits. It would be fantastic if it were to give you some relief though. All fingers are crossed here!

I've heard of it. I may have taken it, but I'm not positive. I've taken so many drugs. I may have taken it for anxiety. I hope the troublesome side effects pass soon.

I recently tried oxcarbazine, another anti-epileptic, (aka Trileptal), as a preventative. But I broke out into a terrible red rash. Had to stop it.

Good luck.
