Whine Alert:

Like everyone else I'm sure, I get so tired of these migraines. Last weekend I felt bad, but had to make a brief appearance at a public meeting along with a co-worker. I was crashing terribly and thought eating would help. So afterwards we went together for some lunch. It did help some. But I still felt awful. I could not wait to get home and lay on the sofa. As we were leaving my friend said she was going to go home and do some gardening. I was so jealous. Green with envy. The idea that she felt well enough to go home and DO something, ANYthing, was so foreign to me. This feeling yucky has become such a part of my life, I sometimes forget that other people actually have energy to do things.

Whine over.

I know you are right, but when I think about the things I'd like to do like clean house or gardening, I'm envious. But you are right.

I can totally relate to this.

Plus on my bad days I don't feel up to house work, but on my good days, I want to be doing something better instead! Very Happy

Over the last couple of decades, the roles of my wife and myself have reversed. She's now the principal breadwinner (in fact the only breadwinner), and I'm the housekeeper. She used to have a schedule for all the housekeeping tasks and she kept to it almost religiously. Unfortunately she would like me to keep to a similar routine, and she can get quite cross if some tasks aren't carried out as frequently as she would like.

Of course keeping to a schedule is impossible as the migraines come and go as they please. So I simply have a list of all the tasks I need to do regularly and go through the list task by task until I get to the end, then start at the top again. Sometimes I can get through the list in seven days. Sometimes, it's more like seven weeks.

Quite often when my wife arrives home after work, she's unable to hide her frustration that so little house keeping has been done. At such times she's likely to imply that I've been living a life of leisure, while she's been slaving away at work. I have to bite my tongue to avoid responding with "I've have been extremely busy - busy having a migraine!"
